40 Camping Recipes for a Great Camping Menu

Planning a camping menu can be a difficult and time-consuming chore that most travelers dread. However, with this free printable camping download, meal planning will be a snap!

Mealtime is often spent socializing around a campfire or at a picnic table. Unlike eating at home, breakfast, lunch, and dinner are consumed at a much slower pace so the quality of meals should be important. Because of this,  finding and preparing 40 camping recipes that are satisfying is a must so that you can spend more time enjoying the company.

Camping is a great activity that allows quality time to be spent with family and friends. In addition, it is fun, affordable and almost everyone loves the fresh air and relaxing atmosphere.

camping recipes, camping menus We have been campers ever since our kids were little. Because we started out in a tent, progressed to a pop-up and then moved into a travel trailer, I have spent a lot of time preparing camping menus. The kids adored our weekends away no matter what we were camping in and they have lots of fond memories of our adventures. As a result, all 3 of them are continuing this tradition with their own families. Two of them have travel trailers and the other camps in a tent. Similarly, they along with all six of our grandlittles are now making new memories! Ultimately, we are so blessed to be sharing these experiences with them in a different way. Camping together is one of our favorite things to do! Three years ago, my husband and I upgraded to a 5th wheel. Therefore, simply described, our camper is a condo on wheels. I have a master bedroom with a king-sized bed, a kitchen island, a fireplace and satellite tv! We are living it up in our midlife years and have no desire to “rough it” in any matter at all! At least I don’t! I guess this is where the term “glamping” comes from! In other words, glamorous camping is definitely my thing! However, my hubby claims he would love to tent camp again, but I know he is outright lying! Because he thinks this will make him seem younger, he is sticking to his story. However, there is no risk in him making this claim; he knows, without a doubt, that I would NEVER agree to such a crazy idea!

Camping Menu Planning

Because we are not roughing it means that I have more time and energy to devote to meal preparation. Hot dogs and hamburgers are a staple in most camping menus, but I like to change things up and make 40 camping recipes that I wouldn’t normally make at home. Above all, my favorite place to find camping recipes is on Pinterest. Mouthwatering options are abundant and can be cooked on the bonfire, barbeque, slow-cooker, Instapot, griddle, cast-iron skillet, in foil packets, in a Dutch oven with a pie iron, or on a stovetop. 10 Favorite Camping Tips & Tricks

  • Freeze all of your meat ahead of time. Because if you are using a cooler, the meat will thaw gradually. Similarly, if you have a freezer, thaw your meat the day prior in the refrigerator.
  • Similarly, always store meat away from fresh food. Also, have a separate cooler for raw goods and always store on the bottom shelf of the refrigerator.
  • Cut fresh produce ahead of time and store in an air-tight container in the fridge or cooler.
  • Combine pancake mix in a bowl and then transfer to a cleaned squeeze ketchup bottle for a no-mess breakfast.
  • Store small amounts of spices in empty Tic Tac containers. The perfect amount for a camping recipe.
  • Add charcoal briquettes to a cardboard egg carton for an easy fire starter.
  • Mix up scrambled eggs before your trip and then put them in a Ziploc bag in the fridge or cooler. No worries about breaking eggs. Use within a day or two.
  • Make macaroni and cheese ahead of time, place in individual foil pans and freeze. Thaw in cooler or fridge a day before you want to use them. Cook slowly on the grill or campfire.
  • Pack lunches to eat on the road instead of grabbing fast food. There’s still time to stop for potty breaks but at least you can eat healthy foods.
  • Coolers should be kept around 35*F. Use a thermometer to gauge the temp so you don’t worry about freshness. Drain water and replace ice as needed.
